Doom 3 might not fit into the timeline perfectly, but this timeline was essentially made retroactively with the newer games, so it already has some "fitting issues" imo.Įternal lead to the new generation confusion since it added so many new pieces of information into the lore, in such a fast pace, that we are still trying to get the whole mosaic together. The timeline for doom is almost as messed jaring as Metal Gear's, but it isn't up for debate if a Metal Gear game is a part of the canon or not. Honestly, I prefer the idea more to continue Doom 3, rather a forced fit that would cause too much confusion True, but there is already a lot of confusion with Doom's timeline anyways, as you have Doom 64 as the third game timeline-wise, followed by the lost levels, if I recall correctly. Kinda lame, but I don't have a better idea. Half life does it well, but that's for a different reason. I never am a fan of multiple timelines for video game / movie timelines, such as what they did with Terminator. So, there's no official timeline, and most player view Doom 3 as a different timeline. Honestly, I prefer the idea more to continue Doom 3, rather a forced fit that would cause too much confusion The next game in the timeline would be Doom 2016 (I guess the age is around 2200? I'm not so sure anymore) with the awakened Slayer, then Doom Eternal and so on. The 2 years are more likely considered as learning experiences than anything serious compared to past events. Doom 2's hell on earth scenario was almost a century ago, or less, UAC begins teleportasions again in a more advances age, ♥♥♥♥ happens, Doom 3 story goes on (2145) and ends in 2147 (ROE DLC). Hmmm.I would say, Doom 3 happened after Doom 2. So, if Doom 3 WAS a part of the timeline, where do you think it would fit? I don't recall too much info about the UAC and whatnot from the original Doom, and since Doom 3 was suppose to be a soft reboot, would it fit best then (with the assumption that you don't play as the Doom Slayer in Doom 3)? Whatever, more for independent creators, I guess Gotcha. Is there an official canon, or is it all based on fan interpretation? " I've seen some say that it is a separate timeline, and other says that all the doom games are in the same universe. Whatever, more for independent creators, I guess However, I only see a very, very little chance for that. I'm pretty sure, this is the future path for Doom 3, unless, some smart person comes up with a great idea and "saves" the timeline. Yes, there are like 2 or 3 Doom 3 related easter eggs like the soul cube, but that's basically nothing. I absolutely hate how Doom 3 is now viewed as an abomination, even though, it's a masterpiece (not flawless, nothing is like that) and still holds up until this day (I don't give a ♥♥♥♥ what others say, they can do a favor for me) And id rather cares about the loud crowd, than anything else. "IHATeThisGamE" Cryboy even like to push this hatred to a whole new level. Simply because It's the black sheep of the series. I would say, it's more like canon, since this new id, doesn't really like to claim Doom 3 as part of the universe. Originally posted by Leninova:It's a separate timeline " Gotcha.
